Challah French Toast

What’s a weekend without Challah French Toast?

To start off our weekend (when Mikey is off, that is Fridays for us!), I’m planning to make some Challah French Toast! After making homemade Challah Bread, I knew I had to turn it in to French Toast.

I was always pretty scared of making French Toast.  I’m not sure why I thought it would be hard to master, but with a simple recipe and a great bread, it really is no fail!  To start this French Toast, you can definitely use store bought Challah (or even Brioche if you want a different style!), but I highly reccomend making my homemade Challah bread.

I know homemade bread sounds scary and so many of us aren’t accustomed to making it, but really, this is a simple bread recipe I KNOW you can make! The taste of fresh bread is unlike any other and when you use that homemade bread to make breakfast? Deeeelish!  Challah French Toast is definitely one of the best types because the bread is light and airy, but a thick slice has some substance to it.  Brioche is a bit eggy (is that a word?), has a lot more butter and is denser so it depends on what you like!

About this week…

Grace and I spent the day out and about today.   Sunday will be her first visit to church so she has a new outfit and new shoes for the occasion.  She is going to look adorable in her pink bubble with beautiful embroidery! If you are in Miami, there are a few great locations for really elegant and beautiful baby (and children’s!) clothing at fairly decent prices. Let me know if you’d like the addresses!

This weekend we plan to just take it easy at home.  Mikey is off and we have no real plans other than church on Sunday.  We want to just hang out at home and enjoy!  Mikey has some work to do and I have lots of post ideas for the blog I want to work on.  Both ideas to write about and ideas to cook up in the kitchen.  I know it’s a little early, but I’ve got some great projects (at least I think so, hahaha) that I’m working on for the holidays!

Anyway, back to our recipe for today!

(I added some banana and it was delish! Didn’t even need syrup.  The sweetness was perfect!)

Get your Challah on!

To get started, be sure to check out my Challah Bread recipe.  I promise, it will be absolutely worth it.

I’m working on coming up with variations for this bread (and therefore, French toast!).  I’m thinking of chocolate, cinnamon sugar, bananas, strawberries, Nutella…so many options to play with! What is your favorite topping for French Toast? Let me know in the comments below! I definitely want to try it this weekend!

If you make this recipe (or any other!) be sure to tag me or hashtag #toeatdrinkandbemarried.  I want to see it!!
