Cheesy garlic crescent rolls are the perfect addition to any family dinner. Easy and absolutely delicious with pizza, pasta or anything Italian!

Last week, as I was making a homemade pizza, I realized that I had run out of frozen garlic bread.  I was pretty bummed because I love having the garlic bread my supermarket sells with my pizza.  I was telling Mikey about it, when he mentioned he had seen a tube of crescent rolls that was about to expire.  He challenged me to do something with those before they had to be thrown out.  I thought for a bit about what I could do to them, and then it occurred to me: I could fill them with cheese, and then lather them in garlic, parsley and butter.  I figured it couldn’t be too hard so I got to work!

As I was getting the shredded cheese out to fill the centers, I realized I had string cheese in the fridge.  I knew that would be easier to work with so I popped one of those out instead.  I chopped them into pieces and then put one piece on the larger side.  I rolled it up, making sure to tuck the sides under the roll so the cheese wouldn’t explode as it melted.  I then melted butter, added parsley and garlic with a dash of salt and coated them generously with the mixture.  I popped them in my new, handy dandy toaster oven and within 10 minutes, they were done! It would have taken longer to preheat my entire full size oven than the time it took me to prep and bake these in the toaster oven.  (I just bought a new toaster oven and LOVE it, so you’re going to hear me raving about that for a while! haha). In case you are interested, this one is great!

When they came out of the oven, I cut one in half and suddenly everything smelled even better.  The cheese oozed out, and the flaky pastry looked amazing! I tried them and mmm, I couldn’t get over how amazing they were!  You have got to try these the next time you are having an Italian night. They taste better than my favorite frozen brand, and they even look like they’re totally homemade, dough and all!

Ingredients

  • 1 tube of crescent rolls
  • 2 mozzarella string cheese cut in 4 equal sized pieces each
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 dash salt

  • In a small bowl, melt the butter using the microwave and then add the garlic, parsley and salt.  Brush onto each crescent roll.
  • Bake at 350 for 10 minutes if using a traditional oven, or at 325 degrees F for 12 minutes if using a toaster oven.  Remove from oven, allow to cool for two minutes on sheet, then remove and serve with a side of marinara sauce.
