Why you’ll love this recipe
-Quick and Easy: it really comes together so fast. Perfect for a last minute gathering!
-Favorite with everyone: seriously, from kids to adults, no one can resist a chocolatey dessert dip!
-No bake: this might be the best part! Just mix, refrigerate and you’re good to go!
Ingredients
- Cream cheese: a block of full fat is best!
- Butter: unsalted is best
- Powdered sugar: make sure it’s as fine as possible
- vanilla extract: I like my homemade version but any will do!
- M&M’s: I hunt down a bag of red and green for Christmas, but you can use any colors!
Directions:
- In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
- Line a small bowl with plastic wrap and add the mixture inside. Seal up the the top of the plastic wrap creating a ball inside the bowl.
- Refrigerate for a few hours or overnight until set.
- Gently remove from plastic wrap and set in a bowl full of M&M’s. Carefully turn in the bowl to fully coat the ball with M&M’s.
- Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
- Serve with graham crackers, pretzels or gingerbread men!

Fun Ideas for your M&M’s Dessert Dip
Make it festive! Use colored M&M’s for different holidays or themes
- red, pink and white for Valentine’s Day
- pastels for Easter
- red white and blue for Independence Day
- brown and orange for Thanksgiving
- red and green for Christmas day
- Bonus points if you order ahead and get white and gold for New Year’s Eve
Serve in a waffle bowl! The bowl is edible and it doesn’t get soggy quickly because the M&M’s create a barrier between the cone and the dip.
You could also fill the bottom of the waffle bowl with extra M&M’s before placing it inside if you’re worried about it becoming soggy. The presentation makes it beautiful and so fun!
Dip is too messy? Spread it right over the graham crackers and top with M&M’s. Or spread over a base of brownies. Makes it a little less messy and just as delicious!
Tips, Tricks and Alternatives
Make sure the cream cheese is completely softened. For an extra creamy dip and much more ease blending the ingredients together, softened cream cheese is key.
Chill before serving. You creamed the softened cream cheese beautifully and it’s fluffy. Now refrigerate it and it’ll be such a thick and smooth dip.
Want a sweeter mixture? Omit the sugar and add marshmallow fluffy instead! You can also add a handful of mini marshmallows to the mix!
To store, place in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Make in advance, but don’t add the M&M’s until a bit before serving. If you add the M&M’s a day early, the colors might bleed.
