Fall appetizer of the year: Apple Pecan Brie.
Gooey, melty brie topped with brown sugar apples and a pecan crunch. The perfect appetizer to usher in the fall season.
If you’re looking for a reallyyyyy easy appetizer, I’ve got what you need.
This appetizer is only a few ingredients and it comes together in minutes.
Creamy, melty brie is perfectly savory. Add some really tart apples tossed in a sweet brown sugar glaze with a hint of cinnamon spice and you’ve got such a cozy, fall flavored appetizer.
The best part about this one is that you can make it ahead of time and simply warm it up right before serving.
What you need:
- Brie: I do an 8oz wheel, but if you’re having a larger party you can double the whole recipe and use a 16oz wheel
- Butter: salted or unsalted works here
- brown sugar: I use light brown, but dark brown will work just fine!
- cinnamon
- salt
- heavy cream: you can also use whole milk if that’s all you have, but it does add a really creamy texture. Make sure it’s room temperature though so it doesn’t scald when it hits the pan.
- Pecans: I like to give them a rough chop so they still have a bite. If you don’t like pecans, you can swap for walnuts.
- apples: In this recipe, I prefer to go with a tart variety. You have the savory cheese with the sweet brown sugar sauce and a tart apple…a perfect combo!
Can I make this in advance?
yes! Prep the apples, top the brie and refrigerate. When you’re ready to serve, bake it off for 20-30 min and enjoy warm!
Do I need to cut the rind off the cheese?
You don’t have to unless you prefer that! I like to keep it whole and cut into the brie in slices. But if you prefer it really gooey, go ahead and cut off the rinds.
Can I double this recipe?
yes, double it and use a 16oz wheel of brie for an even bigger appetizer!
Can I make this in the form of a dip?
Yes! Simply chop up your brie into bite sized pieces and add the apple over top. Bake until gooey and melty and then just dip right in!
