Valentine’s Day is around the corner. And today I bring you a favorite: Cocoa Rice Krispy Treats… but first let’s catch up…
How is it that we’re here already? Although the month of January always feels eternal to me, we’re suddenly in February and it feels like the holidays were just yesterday. However, I’m not too sad about the fast paced life these days because I want this little man to arrive soooooon! The holidays were so fun with Gracie this past year! And now, I’m over the moon excited about doing holidays with a little boy coming soon!! 🙂
Here we are at another holiday. Valentine’s the month where everything is pink and red oh so cute! On Superbowl Sunday, I decided to take a trip to Target (what better time? It was empty!). I picked up Valentine’s themed M&M’s, red velvet cake mix, Cocoa Krispy cereal, sprinkles and all things red, white and pink! So excited to use it all up!
Cue the best dessert of the season: Cocoa Rice Krispy Treats
A couple of years ago, I made some fun Valentine’s M&M Cookies and everyone LOVED them! They were a hit with my family as well as on the blog. They got thousands of views on Pinterest and still do. So since I knew chocolate and M&M’s are pretty much the language of Valentine’s Day, I decided to bring you guys a couple of more recipes with these. Valentine’s M&M Cocoa Rice Krispy Treats were a hit at home.
We faithfully buy Rice Krispy treats, but nothing beats a homemade batch. I will admit I pretty much ate the whole batch by myself. Mikey wasn’t home and I had to sneak bites here and there to avoid sharing these with Grace all day long. I probably should’ve sent some of these to work with Mikey but they were just too dang good.
The recipe is easy. Just like the original recipe, with just a few tweaks and tricks. Give it a try, eat the whole batch, and let me know how they were! If you want to tag me in a photo so I can see, I’d love that, too! Enjoy!
Valentine's Cocoa Rice Krispy Treats
Ingredients
- 3 Tablespoons butter
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 6 cups Cocoa Rice Krispie cereal
- 1 cup M&Ms
Instructions
- Place the butter into a large pot and melt over medium low heat. Add marshmallows and stir constantly until fully melted.
- Remove from heat and add the cereal. Stir until fully combined. Add in M&Ms and mix quickly so the chocolate doesn't melt or colors bleed.
- Press into a greased 9x11" baking pan. To make it easier to press down, butter your hands so they won't stick to the marshmallow or use parchment/wax paper to press down.
- Let it completely cool, then cut and enjoy!
Notes
For a few other Valentine treats…
These are just adorable for Valentines Day I can totally see using a heart shaped cookie cutter adding to cuteness for sweethearts gifts.
Such a great idea to use a cookie cutter <3
I am always looking for a fun-filled themed treat. When I have my nephews over, I always wonder what we can do to pass time besides wrestle (ugh)! I think the cocoa krispies and valentine theme is the perfect diversion!
hahaha, I think you’re right! This is a perfect treat 😉
This looks amazing! A perfect treat for Valentine’s Day! My kids and hubby will love it!
Hope they enjoy them! 🙂
It’s too funny that you posted about Rice Krispie great but literally just the other day I was spying the marshmallows I have in my pantry thinking I should make them!! Love the cute spin to make it holiday themed, too! Yum!
hahaha, I always have a bag of marshmallows around too. 😉 Rice Krispys are a great use of those marshmallows… or if you’re into S’mores, check out my s’mores dip. One of my favorite desserts!! 🙂
Same as you, it totally feels like the holidays were just yesterday! And these look too yummy.
Right?! It’s crazy! But I’m not too mad about it… I want March to be here so we can meet our new baby 😉
These all look so tasty I think i have to try them all!
haha every time I make these I eat an unreasonable amount…
They look so tasty and my kids would LOVE them! And the M&Ms are a great touch! As a child in Australia we also made rice crispies. But here in Germany I have yet to see rice crispies anywhere, only the cocoa flavoured coco pops. Although I guess a little more chocolate wouldn’t be rejected in this household… 😉
This is so cool to do with little ones.
OMG this is such a cute idea for Valentine’s Day! Love it!
Thank you!! <3
I love rice krispy treats, they’re so yummy! The pink and red M&M’s make them super festive for Valentine’s Day!
Not sure if my first comment stuck, but I wanted to say that this looks like something I’d eat all year round! I love the addition of the M&Ms!
Yesss, M&Ms make everything better 🙂
Awesome! These are all worth trying.
Hope you enjoy them if you try any 🙂
Oh wow this looks scrumptious! I have always heard of rice krispy squares, but this sounds like a yummy twist! Definitely a great idea for Valentine’s!
Yesss! Rice Krispies are sooo good 🙂
They look very delicious. Excellent idea for Valentine’s day.
Yesss! And by switching the colored M&Ms, they can be themed for any holiday 😉
